Thank you to all who participated, attended and supported the first ever reuse event at the state capitol in 2015.
Congratulations to the winners of the Upcycle Oregon art and fashion shows.
The Best of Show artist awards goes to Marj Engle.
Marj makes paper mosaic jewelry and 2D art from recycled materials using a self-designed method. Consciousness of resources guides her choices. She converts these resources into a new, more appealing form getting more art in the hands of the people and less garbage into the landfills.
Runner-up awardees are Meg Rowe and Cherry Beeken.
The Best of Show fashion award goes to Hailey Kavanagh.
Hailey is a 16-year-old sophomore student at Mountain View High School. Her two-piece pointy paper outfit received a gasp from the audience upon it’s arrival to the runway. She recently placed in the National Scholastic Awards and will be going to New York later this spring for an award ceremony at Carnegie Hall. The prize she won from Upcycle Oregon will assist Hailey with her travel costs.
Runner-up awardees are Griselda Puga and Erin Bass.
An additional congratulations to our survey raffle winner Cindy Daniels.
Watch for a photo recap of Upcycle Oregon coming soon.
